Week of Oct. 22nd

Please bring back your field trip forms on Monday! We are headed to the National Music Center on Tuesday.

This week was flexible in our classroom as we worked really hard to complete a couple of art projects. We created BEAUTIFUL winter card templates for the fundraiser put on parent council. This project was a multi-step and multi-lesson craft that used different layers and materials to create the final project. We are all so proud of the grade 3 students for working so diligently on the cards. We spent one morning and two afternoons on them- but they were totally worth it :)

We also spent a couple of blocks of time collaging our visual journals. We had a couple of requirements: 1) we had to cover the entire journal and have no white spots showing and 2) we had to find the letters of our name in magazines and spell it out on our cover.

We had a practice lockdown. Overall, we all were able to follow the 4 S's and we were finished our lockdown in about 20 minutes. The CPS officer really liked our safe space.

In PE, we have started soccer skills! We also love revenge tag.

In Social, we continued working our Daily Double thinking routine where we are making observations and inferences about things we notice in the four global communities.

In Science, we had a presentation from Ms. Hammond (who is Mrs. Hammond's daughter). She is a hydrogeologist and talked to us about what a geologist is/needs for their job, the three types of rocks (and brought in really cool samples), and helped us to create a visual journal page to show some of the types of sedimentary rocks that exist in the Rocky Mountains as well as how fossil fuels are formed.

We had a couple of short computer blocks where we worked on math facts and becoming more effective at typing.

We had a circle to start our week and had a power write as well :)

Happy long weekend!!
