Here is what we have been up to over the past couple of weeks:

In social studies, we have continued to work on our research into our country study: identifying important information about food in each culture, the important foods in different regions and selecting some recipes that we would like to make and try. (This will take place in the new year as we are just finishing up the research). Additionally, we spent some time finishing up our journal entry on children's rights.

In ELA, we started our pen pal letters (rough copies) and we will be finishing up our good copies to mail out this week! We have been working in our literature circles with our novel studies and guided reading groups! Some of us tried out a novel study with Ms. Parent and we will be starting those this week. In our story writing unit, we started our rough copy of our story with an adventure map; we will finish them up this week as well.

In math, we have continued working on ways to represent numbers through: ordering and comparing, representing the number in base ten blocks, standard form and written form, place value charts and number sentences.

In art, we glazed our positive monsters and Ms. Bezugley took them to the kiln for us. We also finished up our projects with Ms. Ferrari.

We did a couple of guided drawing! The first one was Joy from Inside Out and with that drawing we wrote down things that make us happy. We also drew a winter scene in a globe and we will be finishing that journal entry with a winter acrostic poem.

We spent three days last week on our tapigami design challenge for Beakerhead! As a class, we used 13 rolls of tape and some cardboard to meet the challenge: The Year 3018. We also did a write up on our process and submitted it on Friday. Ask me about this project :)

We worked a couple of times with our buddy class to help them make some fun cards for their parents :)
