Highlights from our week:

Last week was a super short week! Mr. Schmidt prepared some fun activities for his day of teaching on Tuesday which included some backwards math, leading some fun games in the PE power hour and helped students make final edits for their presentations in Google Slides. We also had a HUGE grade 3 building challenge where students were asked to create a tower using strips of paper that they turned into hearts. Mr. Schmidt raised the highest amount of money in our class to go towards the library redesign.

This week, we started out with welcoming our new guest teacher for the next 10 weeks! Ms. G has really enjoyed getting to know all of the students and is SO excited to start teaching next week :)

We had Ms. Rooke come in and teach us how to wear and take care of snowshoes to get us ready for our first time using them this year (Thank you Ms. Rooke!). Later in the day, we got outside and had a blast! It took some of us a little bit of time to get used to walking in the snow but soon enough, some of us were even racing each other in them. We went again on Friday and it was a much cooler day but we were much more efficient in getting our gear on this time around. We took some fun slo-mo videos too :)

This week, we set aside two work periods for our animal research (which is getting close to done) and spent a bit of time on our story writing. We also chose a video from the site www.makemegenius.com that we were interested in to watch and learn some cool facts.

Ms. Morissette and Mr. Holloway (Hollywood) planned a FUN day of learning on Wednesday as they read the highest number of minutes at home and school combined. Ms. Morissette had the students play some cooperative board games to start the day, she helped out in music and assisted Mr. Ferrari as we added color to the eyes of our animal art. Mr. Holloway had the students complete two guided drawings of different Pokèmon. Ms. Morissette and Mr. Holloway lead a fun gym class (bench dodgeball and revenge tag) and we ended our day with computers. Mr. Holloway even gave the students some free time.

We had a group discussion about the importance of a library, what things you might want to find in a library and things that might make our library even better. We also went into the library and began sketching our redesign ideas for submission.

We talked more about the eagle this week and read an excerpt from our Seven Teachings book as well as a legend about how the eagle became the most respected bird in the sky. We worked on our visual journal entry this week as well.

We introduced a fun new math game called Exploding Cauldrons which gets us to work with addition and mental math skills.

Have a great weekend everyone!
