Highlights of what we have been working on:

We have been continuing our work in subtraction with regrouping in mathematics. We had a couple of challenge riddles that asked students to solve equations in order to solve the riddles.

In ELA we have been working on our stories! We wrote three possible story beginnings, selected one and asked for two stars and a wish from a peer and then reworked our story beginning. Afterwards, we began the typing process :) We had two 30 minute blocks where we used our adventure maps we created to type our stories. We printed off what we had finished and used the C.O.P.S. editing process to review our work. Ms. Parent gave us a challenge to imagine our antagonist and our protagonist gained different super powers that would change the course of our story. Next we will update our stories on our Google Doc and continue typing our story.

In Science and Social, we have continued to research our animals from our country. We have expanded our research to include it's life cycle and how it survives in the environment. Next week we will be looking at a few Tinga Tinga tales and then begin planning our own story about the animals we are researching!

Mrs Ferrari worked some more with the students, helping them create eyes for the animal they are creating using the paper we designed, coloured,  and painted. They will be using this to create an animal collage. I am excited to see what they create!

In PE, we had one week of circus and this week we started volleyball skills.

We have started to look at our third sacred teaching animal, the eagle, and have completed a drawing in our visual journal. Next we will read a legend about the eagle and talk about how we show the teaching of love in our own lives.

We have finally finished cutting out our Harry Potter shapes!! Next week we will begin our guided drawings and thinking about character traits as well as mapping the summary of the story as we go along.

We have been working on a special page for Ms. Bezugley :) Our pages are finished and ready to be added to the secret gift (shhh).

We got to view the science fair entries and vote on the one we felt was scientific and shared some interesting information. Last week we were the audience for the division 2 concert rehearsal.

Letters have gone home about our four country food presentations! We have worked hard to finish this research and we had our last students finish up at the beginning of last week. There is NO pressure to bring in food but if you would like to, please have it ready to come in on your son/daughter's day to present.

We met our new student teacher this week! Mrs. G will be joining us for 10 weeks starting on Feb. 20th.

Have a great weekend!
