Here is a link to Mrs Anderson's blog which has all the music on it for your child to practice at home.

Science- Hearing and Sound:
Students participated in a hands-on science lesson asking them to identify a material that best represents the membrane of an ear drum. Prior to the experiment, students explored the scientific method (variables, hypothesis, conclusions and the importance of consistency) as well as having engaged in some introductory lessons on the ear. We are moving into musical sounds where the students are exploring music in the global countries and will use their experiences to create an instrument from the country they are studying. Please watch out for a message regarding recyclables needed for their instruments.

Writing- Fairy Tales & Pen-pal Letters:
Students have been continuing their fairy tale writing from Ms. Cathy Beverage. We are going to attempt to finish our first drafts next week so we can start getting feedback from our peers and teachers prior to our publishing stage. Additionally, we finished up our pen-pal letters which were put into the mail on Friday.

Health- Bullying:
Students have been examining friendships and ways to build positive relationships with their peers and among other students in the school. They have talked about ways they can help others feel good about themselves and how to fix problems that might arise. We talked about bullying, including the different types of bullying, as well as the difference between telling and tattling. Students are now working on a summary web and either a t-shirt design or a poster depicting a positive anti-bullying message.

Mathematics: Multiplication & Problem Solving:
We have been looking at skip counting as an additional strategy to support students in gaining an understanding of what multiplication is and how they can build their mental math strategies to solve a variety of multiplication questions. We have also started talking about word problems- focusing on the language and key words in a problem as a way to identify what is being asked and how you might choose the operation to solve the problem. Ask me some different words that I might see if it is a problem requiring addition.

Journaling:
We have been looking at a new journaling technique to help us to be successful at our Zoo School Days coming up! Our new technique is called gesture sketching. Ask me what that is! We have started using the webcams for the pandas at the Calgary Zoo- although they were pretty shy and tired on Friday haha

PE- Bootcamp & Skipping:
Ask me what my favorite exercises are!
