Sept. 16-27th, 2019

Important Information Orange Shirt Day - September 30 (Monday) Monday is Orange Shirt Day. Students are asked to wear an orange shirt (or their favorite shirt if they do not have one) to honor the children who attended residential schools and those who continue to be impacted by the legacy to this day. The assembly that the grade 5/6 students will be leading, will begin at 12:30pm and end around 1:30pm Important Dates September 30: Orange Shirt Day Assembly - Wear an orange shirt October 9: Fun Lunch October 11: PD Day - No school for students. October 14: Thanksgiving – School is closed. Important Information Important Dates September 17: Ms. Parent is away for a learning opportunity. We will be welcoming Ms. Temple into our learning spaces.  September 18: Fish Creek Walk (3-4 volunteers  in total for our 3 classes are needed) September 19: Parent-Teacher Conferences 3:30 - 7:30 PM September 20 Parent-Teacher Conferences 8:00 - 11:10 AM September 27: Terry Fox Run September 30: Orange Shirt Day Assembly - Wear an orange shirt, or your favourite shirt! Patrol Letters: If your child indicated that they are interested in taking on a leadership role with patrols this year, then they have been given a permission form to get signed and returned. Please have this sent back by September 18th. Patrol training is set for September 23rd in the afternoon with Cnst. Kevin Courchesne.  Walking Fieldtrip The grade 5/6 classes will be walking to Fish Creek on September 18th in the afternoon. Please ensure they have proper attire for the weather that day. We

Updates

Dressing for the Weather: Parents & Guardians, please ensure you check the anticipated weather for the day and ensure your son/daughter has the appropriate clothing to be outside for recess. Magazines & Pictures: We will be collaging our journals on Friday this week- if it is possible, please send in some pictures (to glue on the front of journal) and a couple of gently used magazines (if possible). Coupon Books Parent council has sent home an ADmazing coupon book as a fundraiser for the school. Each coupon book costs $25. If you would like to purchase the book, please send in the money for the book or simply return the book back to the school. Feel free to share the fundraiser information with your friends and family as a portion of the sales comes back to the school. Deadline for the fundraiser is Friday, September 27th. Forms We are still missing a few forms from the brown envelopes and the demographic sheets. Please return them as soon as possible.

Welcome to the Grade 5/6 Blog for Ms. Parent’s Class! This is the place you will come to find out what is happening in our learning space, upcoming events and reminders of things such as school notices that have been sent home. Please ensure you check the blog weekly so you don’t miss our updates and important information. Important Information: Student Packages Information for students and forms went home this week in a brown envelope. Please review the information with your son/daughter and fill out the necessary forms as soon as possible. Please note that some forms are two sided so please ensure you check both sides. If you have any questions about the forms or information provided, please phone the office to speak with Ms. McLeod. Additionally, student demographic verification forms went home this week as well (white sheets). Please verify the information, make necessary changes and return them as soon as possible.
