Field TrIp Updates and forms

Ms. Parent's class (and the other grade 5/6 classes) have a busy couple of months coming up in regards to field trips so it seemed appropriate to update everyone on upcoming dates, location and reminders for trips we still require some volunteers for. Special Shout Out: Thanks to Jo-Lynne (our room mom :) ) for being so supportive and organized with our field trips! February 25th, 2020: Youth Link Police Interpretive Center (Ms. Parent's class only - Ms. W and Ms. G will be going on Feb. 24th) - We have enough volunteers for this day! Please look for an email tomorrow with a field trip form and parent letter. Just print and return by February 7th (if possible). If you do not have access to a printer- please let Ms. Parent know asap. March 9-13th, 2020: SEED School (Ms. Parent's class only) -We still need 1-2 volunteers most days. We talked about Haiku poems and the unique features of this traditional Japanese style poem. Students also created an illustration that related to their subject area and we superimposed our poems over top of the art. We have now worked on thinking about emotions in poetry as well as a subject we are interested in. Each student selected a poem they were proud of and presented at our Poetry Café on Friday! We have been talking about multiplication and division fact families this week. These will help us see the connection between the two operations and to continue to strengthen our known facts. Welcome Olive! We wanted to let you know that Olive had an amazing first day in the classroom :) During our computer time, we researched some interesting facts about hamsters which we will build into our circle next week as we set up important expectations for the classroom.
