Updates for our learning:
This week we spent some time writing a few new poems! We
talked about Haiku poems and the unique features of this traditional Japanese
style poem. Students also created an illustration that related to their subject
area and we superimposed our poems over top of the art. We have now worked on
thinking about emotions in poetry as well as a subject we are interested in.
Each student selected a poem they were proud of and presented at our Poetry
Café on Friday!
We have been talking about multiplication and division fact
families this week. These will help us see the connection between the two
operations and to continue to strengthen our known facts.
We continued thinking about heroes this week and are now
writing an essay on the concept of heroes and to think about who inspires us to
be the best version of ourselves. We will think about how to structure a
paragraph as well as to continue to build our understanding of more complex
sentence structures.
We also worked on finishing editing our hayride stories and
typing our emotions poems during our computer times this week.
Our creative sustain challenge this week asked us to work
with a partner between our three classes to create a unique animal that lived
and adapted to a habitat that was presented to them in a picture form. They
considered ways their animal would gather food, protect itself from predators,
move from place to place etc. Students had the opportunity to share their
creative ideas with their peers.
We had a week of mission impossible to finish up our
gymnastics unit this week and we will now have a week of cooperative games in
PE.
Remember: we have our week at SEED school coming up from
March 9-13th and we are still in need of volunteers. Please use this
link to sign up for any of the days we will be downtown J
