Learning Updates:

Here are some of the things we got up to:

Mathematics: We are learning about geometry this week. Grade 5's have been learning about quadrilaterals including how to classify and identify them while Grade 6's have been learning about triangles and how to define them by their angles. We have also been playing an area and perimeter game by flipping two cards and drawing rectangles to match the numbers in centimeters. We have also been using our cards as an opportunity to practice our basic division facts by creating fact families with the cards we have flipped.

ELA: We have been working on writing proper sentences and paragraphs through our hero writing assignment.

PE: We played various games last week and started volley ball this week.

Science: In grade 5 we have been continuing with our kitchen chemistry unit and looked at what are the key characteristics of a chemical reaction and how do they differ from physical reactions. We also asked "How is carbon dioxide different from oxygen? Can we prove it?" and completed a lab to document our hypotheses, observations and analyses.
