Figure it Out Friday

Over the last two weeks, you have been extending your understanding of the area and perimeter of rectangles and polygons. For your assignment today, we are going to ask you to draw a bird’s eye view of your favorite room in your house. You can include the furniture, artwork, toys etc. that are in the room you are sketching. This can be done with paper and pencil, you could use Google Draw in a Google slide, or you could even design it in Minecraft. Make sure you take a picture/screenshot of your build in Minecraft to share with us if you use that program.

Here are a couple of examples:

Once you are done drawing your bird’s eye view of the room, the next part of this assignment is to calculate the area and perimeter of this room. You can use standard measurements (if you have a tape measure/ruler) or non standard units of measurements if needed (pillow, stuffed animal etc.)

Please make sure to show your work (formulas and calculations) and submit your work to your teacher (email). This assignment will be due on Friday, May 1st.
