We just want to tell you how great we think you are! You all have been working so hard on your online schooling. We are really proud of you! We are really proud of your parents, too! Hopefully, you’re taking it easy on them! It might surprise you… but they really do know a lot!

Today’s Assignment: Technology Persuasive Essay
(This is the last step of our Technology Task)
We would like you to work on this throughout the week and it will be due on
Monday, May 4th, 2020 (Happy Star Wars Day!).

You could write a paragraph a day and spend time reviewing it with your parents and making edits or

Using your graphic organizer, you will write a persuasive essay responding to the question
“Does Technology Make Our World Better or Worse.”

WAIT? An ESSAY?? WHAT’S AN ESSAY??!!
Remember! An essay is typically 3 or more paragraphs put together about the same topic. So instead,
of writing one paragraph, your essay will consist of multi-paragraphs.

If you look on your graphic organizer, you will notice that your ideas are ALREADY organized
into paragraphs. (See picture below).

- Remember a paragraph has a topic sentence, supporting sentences and a concluding sentence.
- Each paragraph is 5-7 sentences about the same idea or topic. Remember to start a new line and indent the first line in your paragraph. This tells your reader that you are starting a new idea/topic that you expand on in this paragraph.
- Use your graphic organizer to write down your ideas into a multi-paragraph essay. When we put our ideas into paragraphs, we need to use full sentences.
- Remember, you have already done the work for this on your graphic organizer! Now you’re just writing your ideas into sentences and paragraphs!
- Please type your essays using Google Docs! Share it with your teacher(s).
- You have all week to work on this essay! (Due Monday May 4th, but please let us know if you need more time).
If essay writing is new to you… DON’T WORRY! We all start somewhere and we learn by
experimenting! Give it your best shot!
