These included the characteristics of the animal, to look at the habitat of the animal and to research it's diet (prey) and it's predators.  In math we have been reviewing the rules of subtraction (more on top, no need to stop; more on the floor, go next door & numbers the same, zero is the game) as well as looking at what to do when our neighbors have nothing to give. We spent some time each day this week getting our Harry Potter shapes sketches done and next we will cut them out and get them into our visual journals! Welcome back Grade 3 students! It was so nice to see the excitement as everyone ran into the school on Tuesday morning :) I am so happy to hear that everyone had such an amazing break with your families and friends. We started the week with a nice morning circle to allow everyone a chance to share a few things about their breaks. We also welcomed a new student, Emmanuel, to our classroom this week. I was proud of the leaders in our room who stepped up and showed him around and played with him at recess (there was no shortage of students who were interested in helping- we have such a kind and compassionate group this year :) ). In math this week, we reviewed addition and subtraction with regrouping and talked about why we might need to use these concepts in the real world. We started a budgeting project where the students have been given $1000 to design a dream bedroom from Ikea. They have to select an item from a number of different categories (bed frames, mattresses, textiles etc....

We had a chance to go around the circle a few times and share our favorite memories and well wishes as she moves forward in her journey to a few school.
